Terry Fay
Hello :

This poem was written by an American, Lt. John Gillespie Magee, who joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a volunteer in 1940 and was killed in action over England a year and a half later. He was just 19 years old.

High Flight

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silver wings
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun split clouds-and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of- wheeled and soared and swung High in the sun lit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high un-trespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Lest we forget.

Our office is closed on November 11.

Financial Planning TIP:

RRIF Season:

We are nearing the end of the year and the beginning of RRIF season. For those of you who turned 69 years old in 2004, you need to transfer your RRSPs to a RRIF on or before December 31, 2004. Many of the financial institutions we work with are offering special interest rate incentives during RRIF season.

Once your RRSPs are transferred to a RRIF, you will start taking an income from your RRIF. Income has to start before the end of 2005. If your spouse is younger and you need less income, you can have the income from the RRIF based on your younger spouses age.

If you or someone you know has a question about RRIFs please call me and I will be happy to answer any and all of your questions.

The feedback from clients about our new name, Retirement by Design, has been very positive. Thank you for your comments
